Right now I'm here in Taiwan with permanent job. But before that I was freelance programmer.

Doing? Collecting source codes and then make it better.

But my chess program is all my idea, I didn't get from anyone. I code it on from dBase, FoxBase, Clipper, Pascal, C/C++ to Visual Basic.

Moreover, I'm concentrating on database...

In short...we make state machines do something useful. :) We write/design software using one or several of a multitude of different programming languages. Typically the language is human readable, and though not always comprehensible by non-programmers, usually is composed of many very simplistic operations (add, subtract, concantanate...etc).

We write computer programs, it's hard to break it down more than that unless you're specific.
