Hey guys,
I don't have a problem reading a burnt disk, my computer reads bunt disks I have a **** load of old ones :) . My problem is that I keep getting a message says... "Windows cannot read from this disk, the disk may be corrupt , or it may be using a format that is not compatable with windows." I have bunt using thease cd-r's on a laptop, but for some reason my desktop is havin trouble. It is old, very old a compaq 5000 series. Could it be I need to reformat my hard drive, or can I refomat the cd? If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks everyone.

you could probably get a Pioneer DVD/CD burner (110 or 111) for (just checked) $38. delivered price. I have about 4 Pioneers and they work like a charm.
Also, Compaqs are well known to be a huge problem. I wouldn't take one if offered for nothing. Nothing but pain.

Older CD players don't recognize the current formats used by burning software. Get a newer CD player, they're only $30. Something made in the last 2 years should read everything.

Go to the device manager and unistall the CD drive and then re-boot the computer. Age of the CD shouldn't have anything to do with this issue, they have been around since the 1980's. Digital is digital. 1010101010101!
