I don't think there can be just one. I've jammed with several exceptional drummers, including Artemus, aka Tommy, Pyle ( Lynnard Skynnard ) and he was no better than some 'unknowns' that I encountered. So, is it the one that plays the best 'solo' or the one that plays more tastefully to enhance the overall sound of the band as a whole? Personally, I would choose the latter, but who is that?
Single answers such as Ginger Baker, the guy in "Rush" aren't viable in my opinion.
