It is like this, there is at least a 40% chance that you will go out to the cage some morning, and find one dead, and don't know why. Rabbits are territorial and after 3 months of age, start to chase the other one around and around the cage. Rabbits are nocturnal, and you probably won't even know that one is getting terrorized. Stress kills, and rabbits have been known to die from being chased around a cage, with no way out.
So many times people will tell me that the rabbits that are together are getting along great, or that one died for no reason. When I check out their rabbits, I would see one that would be thin, and have a little fur that was chewed on. The dominate doe would be the heavy one.
I have raised thousands of rabbits and if you saw first hand the rabbits that I rescued because the owner thought that 2 bunnies would be lonely together, you would say to everyone who listened, 'KEEP ALL RABBITS IN SEPERATE CAGES BY THE TIME THEY ARE 3 MONTHS OLD."
This question came up last week, and I answered it with more details.

Well, I liked the (be last to me right now..) answer a hell of a lot. Personally I'd give that person the l0 points, fellah.. (for inventiveness!) I think rabbits .. fem/males.. kind of have personalities.. and yeah we had rabbits when I was a kid (hey it was in the 50/60's.. you think rabbitdom has changed much since then? doubt it..?) I think if there is enough food females will get along.. you also wrote about 2 males in another question I see.. I think if there is a female around the males will be aggressive. I think w/females tho if there is adequate food, they will be o.k. If the rabbits were say related I think this is helpful. Provide enough nutrition and you're going far to 'happiness in the pen' m'dear. later (melancholia)

Depends. If you get them at the same time and have a large enough cage or hutch or them your chances are better. Make sure that if they are different breeds that one is much larger than the other because this can lead to bullying and aggressive domination (ie. don't get a rabbit that weighs 3 pounds and another that weighs 8).
If you introduce a new rabbit it will take time for them to get to know each other and they will have to be separated for a while before you put them together. You will need to slowly introduce them to one another in a neutral environment (ie. not in the hutch) and see how they react. If If they get along well then continue to introduce them to each other or about 30 to 45 minutes for about two weeks. Make sure you monitor them during this time and keep a spray bottle on hand if one starts becoming aggressive.

No. Theres a tendency for female rabbits to get jealous, especially in the presence of a male rabbit. They struggle a great deal with issues of self-consciousness. If one of them doesn't committ suicide after being passed over by the male for the other, you should put a stuffed rabbit in between them and let them fight until one of them kills the other.

A better choice is a nutered male/spayed female pairing. I would suggest that you contact your local House Rabbit Society chapter and and go on some bunny dates. It's much better this way than to get a bun and not have it work out.

Of course. Rabbits are social animals. They may not like each other at first, but they will eventually.
Oh! And don't freak out if they try to hump each other's faces, it's how rabbit establish dominance.
