there are many other third parties but why is it that only these two major parties get to be in the presidential elections?

Other parties run in presidential elections too, just they don't have enough support to be elected.

Because most people agree with the points upon which they base their campaigns and the other parties are either too extreme or not represented well enough to make a serious dent in either major parties voter demographic.

Money, it cost a lot to start a party and to get supporters. there is a third party,Independent party.

Because they are the oldest and most established parties in politics.

very simply... majority rules. there are a couple instances here and there of other parties...but the dems and reps rule the roost (for now)!

simple; they trick the population into thinking any other party is a wasted vote.
