my husband does this to our trees all the time. what I do is fold the piece of bark back and wrap duct tape around it. I just leave it on there. Eventually the weather makes the tape fall off and the tree is all healed up. He also ran over a new weeping willow planted last year with his 0 turn radius lawnmower (he was learning how to drive it lol lol) anyway, but it is fine as well and he scuffed it up good. I guess it also depends on what kind of tree you planted. I have had success with the tape with maple trees. good luck

If its a larger tree about 2 inches around then your probably ok any smaller then i would worry. You could get some white paint water based and paint where the bark came off to keep the insects out. thats what usually kills trees..also you can buy a tree wrap at the hardware store to protect the base.

Put the piece back on and rap it with electrical tape. It will allow the tree to heal in a few weeks then take the tape off and the piece of bark will come of too most likely.

The tree should be ok as long as the bark is not missing all the way around the tree.

As long as you have not separated the bark from the tree over half way around the trunk, the lil guy should be OK. This injury is commonly referred as lawnmoweritis in the horticultural field. Please be more careful and your tree may enjoy a long and happy life.

as long as it wasn't cut the whole way 'round the tress it should be okay but please remove some sod from around the tree (carefully) so the grass won't grow next to the tree and hubby won't have to trim around it any more

Probably not, but you have left it open to infection and insects.
Keep a watch on the wound you made.
