This is an interesting question, since the name "Almitra" is deeply tied to the book "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran, as seen in the prior answers to this question. In the book, she is represented as a seeress (female clairvoyant / prophet).

"...And he and the people proceeded towards the great square before the temple. And there came out of the sanctuary a woman whose name was Almitra. And she was a seeress."

In Gibran's book, she appears to be wholly fictional. While there are several famous contemporaries to the fictional Almitra (including a well traveled photo journalist and a member of the Supreme Court Committee for Solid Waste Management in India), there appears to be no historical character of fact by that name. Nor does there to be any alternate use of this word (e.g. not a proper noun).

Almitra is a name given to a friend. Here it may refer to God, as He is the only friend of the heart. He is love and resides in every individual as love.

Almitra or better saying Al-mitra is a girl's name. The name is actually an Iranian name, Mitra. Mitra means the sun. Arabs add an Al to the beginning of the names to define them, therefore when they imported the name Mitra to their language, they added Al to the beginning and pronounced it AlMitra.
Mitra or the sun has an important `symbolic meaning in Iranian culture. It is the sign of love and good. Other names for Mitra is Mehr which has two meanings, the sun and to love.

"Then said Almitra, speak to us of love."

The "Love" section is my favourite part of "The Prophet"

Almitra is a prophet, she has been given the gift of divine sight.
The word itself does not mean anything, I don't think, but it is the name of the prophet of whom Kahlil Gibran speaks.

It seems to be the name of a prohpet or something. See Kahlil Gibran's book/poem, "The Prophet". It's his philosophy about many things including love, friendship, happiness, sorrow, thankfulness, etc. That's where I saw it mentioned. Maybe my source can help you.
