Look the French and the English have always been enemies (until WWI or ww2) anyway last century they were no longer enemies. The payoff for the French in the Revolutionary war was to stick it to the English. They were positioning themselves to get a grab for North America (Quebec) and that is why there was the French-Indian wars, where the colonists were protected by the English army from the Indians and French. There were many examples of atrocities committed by the French/Indians in that war. I believe that is where G. Washington became an officer during that action. Anyway, looking historically at that , the French saw an opportunity to get more land and riches by helping the Americans against the English.

I don't know if anyone on here has noticed but in the past few years, in the U.S.A. it is now considered an insult if you are referred to as french

I don't think they hate us per se, they just dislike the fact that we go to the UN asking for help, and when the UN tries for a diplomatic approach (which is coincidentally the only approach at their disposal), rather than a military one (which is inarguably the end that the United States sought), the USA figuratively flipped the UN the bird and went off on our own.

Furthermore, I think that the French dislike that we don't ask for help from other countries anymore (not just the UN), we just kind of do what we want without a general consensus among the other countries. Sure we had other countries helping us in Iraq, but they didn't make up a sizable military operation and on the face of things, the USA was taking credit for everything anyway.

Huh, they helped you in the revolution, who the french from France? I remember the French helping the British in Canada during the time. The French in Canada had a choice, join the US and loose everything or stay in British Canada and keep their culture and language, which is still honoured to this date. When I lived in Europe, it wasn't just the French, everyone disliked Americans. Why, maybe because you can't seem to keep your noses out of everyone's business. Your rude to foreigners because they don't speak english and you brag about how great you are all the time. The French just don't pretend like every other country.

The french before their revolution were involved with the US in our revolution because their all time mortal enemies were the same as ours at the time - the British. As far as I'm concerned their help had nothing to do with really being on our side than using the US as a way to get back at the British. Look who has bailed them out a number of times since then - US and they resent that they can't save their own aZZes and have to depend on Uncle Sam and other nations to help. Besides they have to live in France - we get to live here in the US. Who do you think got the better deal?

They don't think they need us for the time being. What since the fall of communism in the 1980's (direct correlation between when they as well as others in the world now hate us)
That was the single most destructive single event to US popularity in the world...
Something will happen again and they will come crawling back wondering why we won't help them. And all the Libs will cry until we do. so inevitably we will, and for a while they will love us again.

They are cowardly socialist who have a 100% socialist liberal media. They use to be our biggest allies and our biggest supporters. We saved them 3 times (ww1, ww2, protected in cold war) they saved us from the british at the end of the revolution and they think we should worhsip them no matter what.

They are just cowards and theres no other excuse. When you hear Jacque Chirac support palestinians and lebanese terroist against Israel then you know therse something wrong with them.

It is their leftist ideaology which is the worst. They hate the capitalist america (Yeah I know, go figure they hate the most sucessful form of government ever).

This goes far far beyond the Iraqi war. They hated us since the beginings of the cold war. Americans were mad at them since the XYZ affair (great allies of ours huh? It seems like King Louis was the only person of France who actually liked us. Since they brutually killed him and his family, they turned against us).

kari, going agianst the other nations? You mean like how France brutually colonized the algerians or are now currently unjustly still holding french polynesia?
by the way, this goes WAY before Iraqi war. So don't think Bush is the cause of this. The french could have politely said "NO" to the war and everything would've been fine. But instead they went behind our backs and tried to get other nations to side against us. So don't tell me they are just ungrateful allies. They are lukeworms and they always seem to be lukeworms.

and the french canadian poster-- The world hated the USA then? The British hated americans because of the current war but what other nation hated them?
Canada was anti-american because it was a colony of Great Britian. A place where we kicked the loyalist to. Nova Scotia, French canada, New Brunsick were all unsecessful in joinin americans for the revolution. Who knows why.

1) The french in Canada, IMO, should've valued the ideals of freedom above their language and culture.
2) We have every right in the world to be in european nations business. We saved them in two world wars and protected them in the cold war. They are always in our business too.
3) No. americans don't pretend to like anyone. You contradicted yourself btw about us bragging and sticking our noses where they don't belong and pretending to like people.
4) How great we are? I think it is a little something called national pride. The french, british, spainards all think they are the best. National pride thing.
5) The europeans will always hate us. No matter what we do they are against it. They don't honour freedom. They are selling their own country down the river for sharia laws and muslims coming in. They always side against Israel

The French do not like anyone! Phew! (My mom is Alsatian)
"A German Alemannic dialect spoken in Alsace, a region in eastern France which has passed between French and German control many times during its history. As a result, Alsatian has been influenced a great deal by the French language." Wihttp://www.omniglot.com/writing/alsatian.htm

My mother is a hoot. She is sweet as honey and spicy as hot sauce all at once. (In other words you don't know half the time if she is insulting you or being charming). Kinda like a back handed compliment. I think what grounds her is the German, but that French. She's cute and vicious all at once.

The French are not our allies any more. They have sided with the terrorists and as such should be treated as an enemy, not an ally. Any information the French get from the US, they telegraph straight to our enemies. They did it with Saddam Hussein during the first Gulf War, and they are only getting worse.

Because they have Muslims in their country that they feel thy have to stick up for. The Muslims were brought up for Morrocco to rebuild after world war 2, and Now are a large part of France's lower class. Since we are hating on Muslims, the fench feel they can't put up with it.
This is despite the fact the the Muslims rioted a few years back.

France has changed. France is a nation that is losing population and has resorted to immigration to add workers. Twenty Percent of France is now Muslim and a larger percentage are immigrants. Their socialist policy's have ruined education and economic competition resulting high unemployment and business leaving. Its just not the old France once inspired by the American revolution.
