Would it stop a lot of identity theft, etc if you had a more secure I.D. system?

wouldn't you feel safer knowing that someone can't steal your identity and open bank accounts take out loans and stuff in your name.. and leave you with all the hassle of trying to prove you didn't?

yes it would. the us military has id cards that contain microchips which are no thicker than a common sticker, there is no reason why a similar chip could not be created to be placed subdermally on a person, this chip could contain all vital information that is included in i.d. cards, as well as even used to make banking transactions, like these new pay pass credit cards just swipe your arm and pay for whatever you are buying.

No, people with nothing to hide, who happen to think that Liberty is something to be cherished generally do not think that I.D. cards are such a good idea.

When the people in general accept the "nothing to hide" principle, the next logical step is that they accept the "if those in power say that some individual or group is guilty of something, then they must be guilty." There are still many Jewish individuals, among other groups, who can verify this for you.

No.

Given the attitude of the current administration, that anyone who disagrees with anything they want is a terrorist who hates America (ironic, considering that almost all Americans disagree with nearly everything they want), it is sanity to oppose a system whereby the psychopaths running things have an even easier time tracking everything we do.

Besides, who's to say it WOULD prevent identity theft? It would simply shift the battleground, and victims of identity theft would have an even harder time than they do now.

Yes it would help secure your identiy and would minimize voting fraud. Even mexico has more secure IDs than we do. But liberals stop any ID mandates because they say that it discriminates blacks because they are less likely to have a state ID than whites. Plus Dem's wouldnt be able to cry FRAUD after every election if we secured the election and then they wouldnt understand why they lost.

ID card is one way of knowing who a person is. Thus, it can be for security purposes or covenience. Those who do not want IDs are those who do not want to be identified due to security problems. These is no problem if a policeman asks for one's ID. This is one way of stopping crimes, terrorism and illegal immigration.
