speckofdust7, You mean like when they surrendered to the nazis in ww2? And by the way the uSA would've won indepedence eventually. Even if France didn't help. More lives would be claimed and it would've lasted longer- but it was inevitable for USA to be formed.

Kermit, yeah thats a real good excuse for surrendering and acting like the cowards that they are. They should've fought the nazis but instead they did nothing. Its called being a coward and not sticking up for what is right.
A real "friend" wouldn't try to side against the US on almost every situation and have a press that constantly bickers at america's actions.

PeaceTree, israelis killing children? you are really out of your mind. In war casualitys and accidents always happen. The palestinians strap suicide best to their own children. The Israelis NEVER EVER aim at childrne. Chirac blatantly said that Israel needed to show restraint.
The french haven't been true allies for a long time and since the invetion of the internet they are actually getting called out about it and they can't stand it at all.
When american soldiers accidently kill iraqi civilians/kids do you say "USA IS KILLING THE KIDS" or do you say "it was a mistake, happens all the time in wars". Yeah you do. But when Israel does it they are somehow killing kids?

"War is not the answer only understanding, tolerance, and restraint."
So in world war two we should've showed tolerance and restraint to these animals killing millions of jews and trying to wipe out all of Europe?
Should we have showed understanding to the British in 1812 or revolution? The mexicans in the mexican-american war? The germans in ww1? Koreans?

The French don't like to be told how to think or act. Can't blame them really. I don't much care for it either.
"See WW2 history"..ok let's do that. The French resist Hitler up until the point that defeat appears evident and they give up. One half of the nation under Marshal Petain becomes Vichy France and an ally of the Third Reich. Have you ever asked yourself why this happened??
The answer lies with the millions of French WWI dead. I do not believe that we can begin to understand the French until we understand the dreadful impact the First World War left on France. That slaughter in the trenches was something the French were not willing to repeat in WW2. And they figured, we'll surrender, give back Alsace Lorraine and the Hun will go home. ONLY they didn't...much to the great surprise of the French and many Germans. The Nazi's had a completely different plan that was not the usual Bismark use of war as a tool of diplomacy. No the Nazis had a much darker design.
And the French did resist the occupation. And sadly the French also resisted the Allies in Morocco and Syria. So you are right, they did not choose wisely in all cases.
But that being said, the French are our Ally...yes they are the friend who is always ragging on you and never wants to go where you want to go....but at the end of the day...he is your friend.

It isnt just France and you are waaay one sided. Is France sticking up for the Hez or for the innocent civilians being bombed? Are they just trying to be objective and humanitarian? And everyone should be concerned with the decent treatment of Palestinians, afterall, they have been treated badly and we should see all sides objectively so we can come to find peace between peoples.
You need to do study and do some research and you'll begin to see both sides of the issues. War is not the answer only understanding, tolerance, and restraint. We need to get an arbitrator in there and find compromise that doesnt include killing each others children. France has also been our friend. Friends dont always agree with what each other does. I dont agree with Israel bombing civilians I think its inhumane and so does most of the rest of the world but we support Israel financiallly I dont know why we arent supporting arbitration and a ceasefire on civilians.
If it were just Hez being shot up I wouldnt take a stand against it because they are terrorists and bomb children too.
We cannot fight terrorism by becoming terrorists ourselves.

They are very liberal. I must comment on your we would have won Independence comment. How would we have ever won Independence from England? they had the greatest naval power the world had ever known at the time, We did not have a navy to speak of other than 16 62 foot open (row boats) single mast and canon, they had 30 well trained vastly equipped troops to each one of our non trained poorly equipped starving troop. France and England had been at war off and on prior to the English colonies. Ben Franklin who was the American Ambassador to France said himself that without help from France we are lost. These are historical facts, it is nothing to be ashamed of but it is our history like it or not.

The french resent our taking their place in world politics. Most of Europe has turned against us because they blame us for their decline. What they do not understand is that a country has to give its people reasons to accomplish something not motivation to sit back and let the government keep them. Most of Europe is now a near socialist state. The majority of the people lack the motivation to do much in life and live off the upper class and poor middle class. Just as those too lazy to get ahead in this country try and take away from those that work, those in Europe that live off entitlement programs keep the countries poor. A country needs to grow in wealth to maintain itself. The french are stuck in time and think they can afford much more than they really can.

the actual incontrovertible fact that, as you state, this society has great freedoms is the reason that a various and policitally opinionated citizenry can nevertheless be united under one flag. We liberals seek for a greater perfect society, one the place those freedoms are actually not given over to an expert outfitted on concern. As for enjoying valuable with the enemy, that's what diffused rulers around the international have carried out to develop their very own time table. We tolerated Stalinist Russia for the period of the 2d WW as a results of fact they have been the enemy of the Axis and "the enemy of my enemy is my buddy". that replaced without delay as quickly as a results of fact the conflict grew to become into over - we entered an prolonged era of covert hostilities with Communism. As for our courting with Hitler, it grew to become into the very liberal government of FDR that labored with the ecu powers to obliterate Hitler. long earlier the conservative American public grew to become into keen to take on the German, Italian and jap forces, Roosevelt tapped George Marshall to artwork with Churchill to make stronger their conflict attempt. Please additionally undergo in innovations the great attempt that one among your individual, Richard Nixon, made to play valuable with an enemy (that's pronounced as international kin, via the way). He has the international's admiration for commencing the door to commerce with China. without that attempt, they may well be an enemy the like of which we've on no account considered. somewhat, they are actually figuring out to purchase and merchandising companions. i don't choose to pass away the middle East till we've a non violent answer to the great problems there, yet i don't think that what we are at the instant doing works. That makes me very afraid. Very afraid. yet i might somewhat be apprehensive of terrorists, than of my very own government. And the liberties that are being slowly leached away via the present administration are greater good to interchange than lose.

They are scared of more Islamic uprising in France. (Plus the French are anti-Semites to begin with)
France will be an Islamic country soon. The (Celtic) French are likely thinking after they become "Dhimmi" subject to Islamic law, they may be treated better by their Muslim overlords if they show them support now.
