Maybe because Israel is the only democracy in the region.
Maybe because since its creation in 1948 it has been under nonstop attack by it's neighbors.
Maybe because Israel is being attacked by the same terrorists that are attacking the US.
Or maybe because it is the just, moral and correct thing to do.

because Israels exhistence causes a lot of aggrevation to its neighbours, and the people that lived there originally. that aggrevation causes fighting. Supporting Israel means Israel can fight on America's behalf without the US firing a shot (directly). thus weakeing all the surrounding states to such a point they have to turn to terrorist methods to make a dent into one of the most advanced army's in the world. because they use terrorist methods they are then viewed as evil and the bad guys. and where terrorists are involved it gives the US a further pretext to become involved, clean up and take whatever they like

I heard it's because Israel is the only ally the U.S. has in the Middle East. They can use Israel as a safe spot to launch attacks against other countries in the region. I've also heard that SOME people in the U.S government believe that helping Israel will "bless" America because it's the holy land.

America want a military base there.American eye is fixed on Arab petroleum resources.Except Israel no body will give a base for USA in that area.,it is to safe guard american interests.Secondly American Arm Manufactures want some war some where always to keep their sale going up.American policies depend on this industry,They finance political parties ald leaders.Actually war by Israel and Iraque is keeping the American economy alive,

They are making ties in order to have an aircraft base and at hand if needed - then again I guess since the war has been over in Iraq for a couple yrs and only police work and avoiding road side bombs is left to do for our troops - I guess they can keep the one up and running that they have there now.

It should be obvious by now. Becuase if Bush dosen't support Israel, whos going to support it? Nobody of course. And if Israel has no support, think of what middle eastern countries, like Syria and Lebanon, will do to Israel.
Anyway... Israel is occupying Palestine and busy killing innocent people and destroying buildings, but the media says that it is defending itself. While Palestinians have nothing to do except to bomb themselves because they're is nothing they can do to survive and nothing else they can do to defend themselves. Palestinian people are under very bad occupation by Israel, but the absent of the pictures and news coverage has led to another understanding. Why? becuase the media is under the control of the Jewish community. Watch BBC news, its the best news you can trust rather than CNN.

Having read all the answers so far, a clear picture has emerged.
There are three schools of thought:
1- because Israel is so wonderful and terrorists are so bad !
2- because USA is so evil and so is Israel and they join forces to do more evil together !
3- Money and Power. Jewish money and influence in the US is vast.

Religious reasons. Christianity says that the nation of Israel (meaning the man Jacob's children) is God's special chosen group, so post-WWII Christians decided that if we don't support Israel then we're letting God's people die.
Not that it's quite so simple, but then I doubt you're looking for a treatise on the matter!
