I start with the bimanual exam finding the cervix. Then evaluate the volume of the uterus. Check for the ovaries. Check for any annexial mass.
Then I continue with the speculum. Checking for the vagina (inflammation, infection, lesion). Then checking the cervix (lesion, color, blood, cyst). Then take any test I want (chlamydia, gonorrhea, PAP test)
It is finished ! See you in one year.

The most important thing is to relax, but if you can't, your doctor will help you and realize it. Have your mom or a close friend go with you if you wish.
Ask your mom about her first exam. She's likely to give to you the best response compared to your friends, who might taint their responses with exaggerated banter.

Just lay back and relax. It's a yearly exam women get. The doctor can check for STD's, Cervical Cancer , and Infections. (yeast infections or UTI'S)

Well, I tend to just lay there with my legs up in stirrups. The Doctor does the rest....
