It all depends on you, your ex, and your son, and the big picture. I was doing two weeks on, two weeks off, with my two children. That worked for us, and we lived in the same area, we both worked on post. Some people do better with three weeks, some with one week. Some kids don't do well with joint custody at all, some of them need one parent to have full physical custody with plenty of visitation from the other parent (when we first split and couldn't do joint because of his housing, he got them every other weekend, every Wednesday while I was at church, and several extra weekends). If you guys are able to work together to be able to do joint custody, start out flexible. Look at your son for cues. He will tell you if he needs more stability by having longer stays with each parent, if he needs one full time parent, or if one week is good for him. Once he seems comfortable, stick with what is working. And once he starts school, make sure you look for any signs that the arrangement needs to be changed for him. Remember, it is not about you guys being happy with the arrangement, it is about your son being happy, don't lose sight of that.

Look its over ..There is no such thing as shared parenting..especially if either of you plan on ever having a relationship with someone else!! Do yourself a favor and the kid ...you do for the kid your way and let the the guy do his thing otherwise you might as well stay together for the kids sake!!
