I have some from the 70's, it has been opened, but a lot of it still seems to smell ok.wondering if it ever spoils?

this is'nt my own personal cologne. i've never used any of it, someone gave me the box of men's after shave, and women's cologne.They had it in a box from an auction.there are quite a few boxes, most full bottles.

If is still smells good then it is good. The perfumes made years ago were quality and they lasted longer. It was a few years ago that perfume makers started making it really cheap so it would not last long. If it is not good believe me you would not have to ask, you would know.

I've got some Copenhagen that my first g/friend gave me in '78, it still smelled the same last time I checked a couple of years ago.
I think at our age we have to be more concerned about how we smell under the cologne!

cologne and perfume does go bad after so many years.
To keep it longer try putting it in the fridge. i recommend putting the most expensive one in the fridge.
Florals scent trend to lose the sent faster than the muskier ones.

I would think that a 30yr old bottle needs to be chucked. Get with the times and buy a new bottle.

Cologne's purpose is to smell good. If it smells good, use it! It's that simple =)

The scent actually changes.....the alcohol and other ingredients evaporate and the already usually weak commercial essences deteriorate.....I pitch old ones....

It doesn't actually "Spoil" but the scent will not be as strong as when it was new.

yeaa.....the chemicals in it and make u sick if the cologne or perfume is old
