sure!
i'll use an example with an easy chord: a D chord.
as a tab, it would be written (xx0232).
in a tab like this, the first character represents the sixth string, the low E. then it goes across the fretboard to A, D, G, B, e.
sometimes an x will be used. this indicates either a deadened string, or a string not included in the chord. in this case, the notes are not included. the 0 on the fourth string represents that this string is to be left open. since this is the first note in the chord you would begin playing on this string.
then you would place your fingers on the second, third, and second frets of the third, second, and first strings.
in playing actual songs in tab, the D chord might look like this:
eI--2
BI--3
GI--2
DI--0
AI--x
EI--x
with this in mind, i'd like to give you some progressions to play. most popular music is built around the major progression: I, IV, V7, which means the first, fourth and fifth-diminished 7th chords in a key. here are some chords and their tabs:
D: D (xx0232), G (320003), A7 (x02020)
A: A (x02220), D (xx0232), E7 (020300)
G: G (320003), C (x32010), D7 (xx0212)
E: E (022100), A (x02220), B7 (x21201)
Em: Em (022000), Am (x02210) B7 (x21201)
Am: Am (x02210), Dm (xx0231), E7 (020300)
C: C (x32010), F (xx3211), G7 (320001)

it's a great site for beginners as well as experienced players!:)

Very Very Easy...
there are usually 6 lines
---------------------------
---------------------------
----------------------------
------------------------------
--------------------------------
-------------------------------
each line corresponds with a string
E--------------------------
B--------------------------
G--------------------------
D-------------------------
A------------------------
E------------------------------
and a number reprsesnts witch fret to put your finger on
for example for "Smoke on the water" on the E string,
E-----0----3---5---0----3---6--5----0---3---5--3--0
you press your finger on the frets 0,3,5,6 when the time comes. but tabs are not completely accurate with timeing. u are going to need to listen to the song of witch you are playing to get the timing right....
or try reading staff music... but thats a whole new ball game to learn.
but that is the basics of guitare tablature... and usually the tab page will give you a key of the different symbols for the complicated stuf....
i hope i helped.

the top line line is the highest pitch, the bottom line is the lowest, and the number on the line is fret you press. if it is a 0 you leave it open. no number you don't pluck that string.
