There are known viruses or trojans that can do that.....but it can also be your door to the CD drive isn't closing completely which causes it to cycle open again. Some blockage? Try blowing it out good with air

My computer disc drive kept doing that, it was well annoying. I turned whole computer off, including mains, and it went :) I'm not sure if it was a virus or what, but it went :D

there might be but i do know that there is a program that can be sent thru im or email that if clicked on will open up your disk drive over and over again and as for a normal CD player, you can modify it so that it will play when it is open

This happened to a friend of mine. She thought that the drive was haunted, but it turned out to be a virus.

i dont think it is a virus. sounds like a hacker to me. but it would not hurt to run a virus scan just in case.

That is not a virus, check your firewall and your anti-virus software, disable them and try again.

No I don't think so but it sounds like someone is remotely controlling your PC for fun. I know someone who did that once to his friends computer.
