A bulb syringe, available at grocery stores, walmart, drug stores...baby section...gently put it up the baby's nose while holding the bulb in (together/deflated) and once it is up there, let it go and it sucks out the yukies. Keep a tissue in hand to blow the little boogies into after each time. You can clean it with hot soapy water sucked into and squirted out of the syringe and make sure you shake it, squeeze it alot to get all the water out too!! Throats are harder and mostly nasal mucus is enough to suck out to help the poor thing breathe clearer. Try some infant nasal decongestant drops, too. The directions for use are on the box. Little babies may need special presciptions though, read carefully!

Use the snot sucker thing that they gave you in the hospital. You want to keep a close eye on the baby though, because that can turn in to a multitude of problems at that young of age. You really need to take him/her to the dr. I saw one in the dr. office the other day whose parents left her untreated for a couple weeks thinking they could clear it up on their own, and the paramedics rushed her out. If she has plegm in her lungs and it doesnt come out, it can turn into something serious. The dr. can give him/her something to break up that congestion. You cant buy over the counter for that young.

Unfortunatley, you are going to have to use a "sucker". Your baby will hate it, but it has to be done. I think that you can also use Johnson and Johnsons Ecalyptus bath gel to help open up his/her nasal passages. Just check the back of the package first for age guidelines.
