I have had two babies have constipation since 2 weeks old so here is the adivce I give on the subject the best thing that worked for me is prune juice. Fix the formula like normal and start with one ounce if it works don't increase it if it dosent then go up to 1 1/2. Pear juice isn't the best that I know of. You can also go to the drug store and get glycerine supposorties and pinch off the very end and put it in his or her butt. It sounds really gross but my baby didn't poop for like five days and as soon as I used one of those he went. You will have to make sure it goes in though cause the natural reaction is for it to be pushed out. When you put it in hold his little butt cheeks closed. After you do it then take his little legs and go up and down like bike riding, this will help loosen his bowels do it like every hour for as long as he will let you. You can do this after the prune juice to. Apple juice works really good if you don't like the idea on prune juice do like 2 oz of water and 2-3 oz of apple juice the water will also help. I have treid all these things and in their ways they work you just have to try each and see what works best for your child.

Best Constipation Cures

Yes! Do NOT use Karo syrup - it's corn syrup - listed as one of the 5 WORST foods...ack! Any of the fruits or veggies beginning with "P" will help your child go (ex: Prunes, Peas, Pears, Peaches, etc...) My pediatrician said to feed my five month old prunes or prune juice if she got constipated. Good luck!

Just make sure that he's getting plenty of fluids. You can put in two tablespoons of orange juice with some cooled boiled water and this should help. This is the only cure for constipation that is research based and that we are allowed to give to parents on our caseloads.

i'm assuming that considering he's only 5 months previous you have not all started solids (maximum toddlers are not from now on waiting till a minimum of 6 months). in spite of the indisputable fact that, you should attempt some prunes and see in case you will get him to devour some spoonfuls, yet i doesn't be a great deal surprised if he rejected solid foodstuff. you could attempt darkish Karo syrup in his bottle and some professional-biotics (professional-biotics are large for buying issues transferring wisely). you will get them at maximum pharmacies, make positive they're the drops meant for toddlers. they're also somewhat expensive, so pay attention (commonly round $30 - yet they very last a lengthy time period). you could also attempt the former "thermometer up the bum" trick. that often works.

My doctor suggested giving my baby girl one bottle of pear or prune juice in the morning and about 6 ounces of water a day. You might want to ask your doctor about changing your baby's milk also, my girl is allergic to iron and some milk protein so he sent to give her Nutramigen. Hope it helps.

You can also try a warm bath and tummy rub to help get things moving in the right direction. How long has the constipation gone on? If you are really concerned call your pediatrician.

Yes absolutely...though add apricot...and banana and then water it down....as the kidneys when the body is in crisis need less play or hits.......make it to palate, banana will be the real magic for the desire on the part of the child......water makes it easier..it is almost like a quick fast as children that small are highly metabolic....desired results i a day..though if the child needs food...go with No salt crackers.

As surprising as this sounds my grandson's ped has us putting 1/2 tsp of Karo syrup in his bottle and it works wonders. This is the remedy that my grandmother, mother and then I used it for my children I guess there are somethings that never change. I would ask your ped before making any changes a baby's system is really sensitive. Good Luck

Not yet, you need to wait until he is 6 months old. You can give him 1 tsp corn syrup (Karo syrup) mixed in 1 oz of water. This will do the trick faster than you would believe.
