Goldfish are coldwater and carp, and thus should not be combined with tropicals like angels and bettas. As for putting bettas and angels together, I did in a 56 gallon tank, and the angels really beat up the betta. The betta ate their eggs, too. So it was what you might call a lose-lose situation. Bettas may be considered really aggressive, but angels are cichlids, and though one of the more mild species, they are very territorial. I would seriously advise against it.

It wouldn't be a good idea. Angels and Bettas are tropicals, while goldfish like a unheated tank.

Most bettas will leave the other fish alone, but if you get a brightly colored fish such as a goldfish, you might have the betta trying to chew it up. The color of the goldfish makes the betta think that it is another betta. It is a common misconception that bettas will fight with all of the other fish. It just isn't true. They will fight to the death with another male, and sometimes they will kill a female if she doesn't want to breed, but generally they mind their own business.

Angel fish are known as the angel of death. They love to eat small fish,(fry) such as baby live bearers. When they are small, they are very timid, and usually end up getting chased to death and their fins eaten.

Goldfish keep on growing and may get to be 14 inches in a pond. They eat a lot, and what goes in must come out. They are very messy. They need 1/4th of their water changed every week, unless you only have a few or a large tank.

You didn't say what size aquarium that you have, but bettas need a tank no taller then a 30 gallon, because they need to go to the top of the water to breath air. I hate to see a betta in a small bowl because the water gets so dirty so quickly. A five gallon is a great size for them.

If you already have a betta, goldfish and an angel fish, keep the temperature around 72, have a lot of plants, fake because goldfish will eat live ones, so the little angels can hide until they get bigger. The betta needs a plant to call its home, and can use the plant to sleep on.

Okay, I only read a few other answers, and what the majority of people are saying is completely wrong. Bettas are NOT bloodthirsty fish that will kill anything in the same proximity as it. As a matter of fact, I had a betta in my 20 gallon tank with a LOT of other fish, and I never had a problem with it. Bettas will only attack other bettas, not other species of fish, unless they are fancy-finned. And, the reason I had to remove the betta out of my tank was because the danios in there were nipping at his fins, not because the betta was killing the others.

Now, back to the question. The goldfish and angelfish, possibly, but I would be careful. Since goldfish and angels DO have fancy fins, I wouldn't put the betta in with them.

Just please, listen to someone who actually knows about fish, NOT what their name means.

YES. It can be done.. Betta are famous as a fighting fish but they are only aggressive only towards their own kind. Not to other fishes. I had keep my betta in a community tank with other fishes before, they are actually quite shy.. Mine stayed mostly hidden among the plants except when feeding time..

In this combination of betta, goldfish and angel, the 1 problem i foresee is that if the angel is an adult fish and is in the mood to breed, it may protect its territory and may attack others which comes by..

No. First of all, bettas and angels are tropical fish, and require their temperatures to be around 78 degrees. Goldfish are coldwater fish, and prefer their temps at no higher than 70 degrees.

Secondly, the betta will attack the goldfish (if it's a fancy variety) and the angel. Just as the angel will attack the betta, though he'll probably leave the goldfish alone. And depending on what size goldfish you have, he'll just eat both of them.

Third, even if they could all get along temperature- and temperament-wise, you would no smaller than a 40-gallon tank for them to be comfortable.

Hope this helps.

Angel fish are actually very agressive. Bettas are only agressive with other Bettas. An Angel fish will constantly go after a betta and a goldfish because they seem to like to nip fish with long fins.

All you answerers are bloody idiots. The angel fish is more aggresive than the beta. You can have a beta and a goldfish in the one tank because they both swim slow. The beta doesn't need to be heated as the angel fish is tropical it needs to be heated.I had one Crown tailed beta in a tank with angel fish and not even two hours later the beta was a shell. It was dead.

DONT WORRY ABOUT THE BETA!! beta fish can be together with other fish..you just cant have 2 male beta fish in the same tank. the beta would be fine with the gold fish and im PRETTY sure it would be fine with the angel fish too. My uncle has like a 60 gallon tank and he has many kinds of fish..the beta get along fine with other fish..the angel fish are a little feisty but it should be fine
