I have a friend, and he feels that he has been emotionally abused by not only people at his school, but also his own family.Because of this, he has cut himself several times hoping the pain of the wound would take all him emotional pain away, and he has even considered killing himself , and on two occasions he tried strangling himself, but decided it was the wrong thing to do, however both times he came closer to doing it and i am afraid if he tries again, he might actually come through with it.even if he doesn't, what should my friend do?

Your friend should find at least one person he can talk to face to face...
He should realize (especially if he is young) that life changes all the time and nothing is permanent (except death). Whatever his problems are, they can be solved.
I have lost some good friends to suicide. They must have thought that no one would miss them. They were wrong.
My life used to be terrible... it's not anymore. I am now very proud to be who I am and have a great life but it wasn't always that way.
Tell your friend that death comes for everyone eventually so just wait it out. Things can get better... but you only have this life as far as we know for sure.

Yes I have considered killing myself on a number of occaisions. Once while sitting at my desk and just overwhelmed with what seemed at the time as insurmountable probems I pulled my 38 revolver from a drawer, ****** it, and put the barrell in my mouth. Just as I was about to pull the trigger I saw the wall in front of my desk disappear, I saw my daughter in a wedding gown walking down the aisle with me escorting her, and I heard a voice say: "If you do this you will never see this." So I took the gun out of my mouth, unloaded it and later sold it. Since then I have seen the arrival of grandchildren who are the light of my life. I would have missed all that.
Sometimes the pressures of existence just get too much for us and suicide seems like a viable alternative. I had a beloved uncle to killed himself. His children grew up with all kinds of developmental problems because they did not have the guidance of their dad.
Your friend is in trouble. If a person talks a lot about suicide, and attempts it as your friend has done, eventually they will succeed. You have to come to his rescue. Self-abuse, cutting oneself, is an example of the self-destructive mind-set he is in. I strongly recommend professional intervention, such as psychiatric help. By all means have a talk with his parents. Let them know how your friend is hurting. Failing any meaningful reaction from the parents then go to you school guidance counselor. And it that doesn't work go to a minister, priest or rabbi, whoever. Finally if all else fails go to the police.
Good luck to you.

Don't even worry about it. If he does, he does. I have had friends who committed suicide, and if they are serious, they get it right the first time. I can't say they were wrong, I respect their judgement.
Your friend sounds like a cry for help, not a suicide. In this case, fawning over him is the fuel for his fire, a rewarding behavior that just causes more psychodrama. Don't be an enabler, just enjoy his company if you want to, but don't let him draw you in.

Your friend sounds serous. He does have alot of emotional pain.He needs to seek help,or you need to report his actions to someone in his life that will see that he gets it. Before its to late. And if you believe in prayer start now! Wish you both the best.

Urge your friend to seek professional counseling. This isn't something that can be solved by a stranger online.

Everyone who has the ability to reason has thought about it at one time, or another, either out of curiosity, or because of overwelming problems.
