What activities other than restaurants, cinemas, and parties are there available for someone who turns 35 in Southern New Zealand this time of year (cold and wintry!)? (Would appreciate non-tongue-in-cheek tips, pleeease?).

Well, looks like you all may be inside for the celebration. What about a movie night? Get the favorite movies of the guest of honor, serve his/her favorite movie food and drinks. Then, open gifts!

Could you do something like "this is your life?" and do a presentation (on the computer) or with slides (if slides are still made) of the birthday guest. Tell stories about childhood, stupid things this person did, etc.

Did the birthday guest give you any ideas? If so, go from there!

When I turned 40 my friends had me a treasure hunt. I had to find all the clues to find my OWN party. It was a blast. While I was trying to find the party my friends were decorating my own house, my mother had let them in. The night ended with several of my old girlfriends roasting marshmellows over the fireplace. A 40's pj party. Pizza, popcorn and movies, even a few home movies. Seems we never have enough time for our friends at this age. Was one of my best birthday parties.
