pubic hairs, like all hairs, don't exactly stop growing
they fall out after a certain period of time, and a new one starts growing from that same place
head hairs also reach a maximum length even if you never cut them
head hairs usually endure quite a while so if you don't cut them the average length can be very long (longer for some people than others)
arm hairs likewise don't get very long on most people because the lifetime of any one hair, before it falls out, is not long enough for them to grow more than a 1/2 inch or so for most people

And no, they fall out when they get too long. That's why a shedding dog's hair is always the same length.

and when you get older do some people get a bald patch like some do on their heads.
can you imagine if you could grow your bush long enough to shape it into a hedge.
