I am using Blue Voda to make a website for a school assignment but i need to put a forum on it for free.

If you have programming experience and have php installed on your server you can use http://www.phpbb.com
If you are a beginner and just want a simple forum you can use http://www.proboards.com/
They host the forum on their site and you can link to it, customize it, etc.

you can get phpBB for free. it has a lot of features. HOWEVER, make sure you use the most current version phpBB with a stable version of PHP on your webserver, otherwise you could get the webserver rooted.
