I suppose it's entirely possible that some folks might use it that way. I don't.
Some people just like to share their knowledge. Others like to pretend to be someone else to see what kind of answer they'd get. Some are just angry and sarcastic and cynical and can't have fun anywhere else, so why not have no fun here, too? Others might actually have problems and no one else to ask. Sometimes getting help with a problem from an anonymous third party is the most helpful thing of all. Some are opinionated and some want to hear those opinions. Others want to vent and still others want to know that there are people out there who feel the same way that they do about something.
I think this is just a great experiment and a fun diversion for the time being. It can be as serious or as lighthearted as you'd like.
There may be kids on here, but there are lot more folks who have no need to ask for answers or advice from parental figures. Nice try, though. I just don't think the whole thing can be pigeon-holed that easily.

No.
Yahoo! Answers would be more like your peer group, your friends.. You have good advice and people who laugh at you, and bad advice... It's a good range of answers, and allows you to look at something in different ways.
Furthermore, we don't know the person who asks the question, we don't know the circumstances other than what we are told. Generally, parents would have more background information and would be more likely to customise the answer; something we people using Yahoo! Answers cannot do.
On the other hand, this also means we are less likely to have some hidden agenda.
I think that each person should evaluate the answers, including the parents' and decide the most appropriate for that person. It's an individual thing.

No, Yahoo answers should never be substituted for parental supervision and counseling.Your parents know the real you, people on Yahoo answers don't know you at all. The answers are generalized, not specific to your case.

It sure seems like the little ones are trying to get their answers here. I don't know if the kids are trying the parents first and the kids are shopping here or exactly what is going on. Maybe they will chime in with an answer.

No way. Some of the answers given on here, I wouldn't use to train my dog. I would like my dog to have some sense of intelligence.

My teenager would be no more inclined to take advice from anyone else or me so I'm not worried! She knows everything, like I did!

From the number of "am I pregnant?" questions, I think so; so I try to answer them the way I'd answer my own children.
