While it is very true that you inherit ALL traits from your parents, there are actually very few that are "directly" inherited. A better way of saying it is that you are one or the other. Most traits are a result of either incomplete dominance or multiple alleles, which is just a fancy way of saying that their genes meshed and produced something that was a mixture of both of them. Some things that are only controlled by one allele include widow's peak, cleft chin, attached earlobes, hitch-hiker's thumb, and dimples. Eye color is controlled by multiple alleles, and is many times a combination of parental eye color. Hope this helps!

No. Blood type would be another, hair type/color/qualities....
There are a lot of physical things that are directly inherited, but very few of them are monogenic traits.

that doesn't mean that you will have the same characteristics as one or either of your parents, but whatever physical characteristics you have, were stored in your parents genes, and passed on to you, even if those characteristics weren't expressed in your parents

What? No, you inherit everything that isn't controlled by environmental factors from you parents.
What about you skin colour? What about the very fact that you are human and not, say, a banana plant?
