sounds like the driver for your dvd drive has changed, you can try going into device manager and rollback the driver.

right click my computer, select properties, select "hardware", then select device manager. Look for your dvd rom, see if yellow or red marks exist, if none, you can still right click the driver, and select properties, then click the driver tab and select rollback. This may or may not work.

Also could try system restore, but you will lose all programs installed to the date that you go back to.

start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore.
