Depends on your body type. The more skin you have, the less painful (except when getting one in a private place on your body). Tats are most painful when there is only a little bit of skin b/c you can feel the needle hitting the bone. Most painful would be the sensitive areas on your body (genitals, nipples).

Feet, ankles, hands and neck/face are the worst (pain-wise) places to get tattoos. The shoulder will hurt, but not as bad as other areas would. Where there's more muscles/fat/tissue, the less pain there'll be.

I fell asleep during my shouldblade tattoo. My ankle touch up hurt worse than my hip, shoulder, back or fresh ankle tattoo.

well my husband is a pain in my neck..my job is a pain in my azz..my kids are a pain everywhere etc..I think tatts hurt no matter whre you get them..it depends on the level of drunkeness

I have a tat on my spine, and it didn't hurt that much. And no, i'm not fat either..i'm skinny...It has to do w/ your tolerance for pain really. I have a high tolerance for pain. Just try it..

it can be if you are bony... the worst tattoo place i would say is behind the knee.. ouch
