I have it set to alert me to new messages in Yahoo mail, but it's not working. It just changed overnight and I want to have it back the way it was.

open messenger, then click on the messenger menu, select preferences, then select "alerts and sounds" highlight yahoo mail feature, then make sure the boxes are checked to alert you when the email message comes in.

when I highlight the line "I receive a message in Yahoo! Mail" then click on 'Apply' then click on 'OK' buttons when I log out of Yahoo messenger it automatically reverts back to "A Messenger contact goes on line. I have re-booted my computer 4 times after each time having to change it back to "I receive a message in Yahoo! Mail" Please, help! All was working fine up until about 4 days ago then I started having this problem. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Yahoo Messenger and still it does the same thing reverts back to "I receive a message in Yahoo! Mail"

I have found, in the past that, if I don't reboot my puter, and it locks up or anything like that, after I have made a change to my prefs, they don't hold and you have to do them again.. although, with messenger, you may just have to shut down messenger, AFTER you click apply and get back out of prefs, and then restart it.

The settings don't usually change on there own. could someone else have done it? You should be able to just go to options and reset it the way you want.
