Tough call.
What with all the digital developments it's a sure snag on the imagination.
Then again the standard of excellence is still good solid photography, story, acting, and direction.
Anytime I hear something like this, I have to think of people like David Lean, Sergio Leone, and Abel Gance. In a sense, wildly divergent, but solid all the way through.
Why? Because it's almost like most. Which is more direct. Film is in fact the synthesis of all the arts. Here it's really true; anything done well will be well received.

I don't really have a favorite genre... I guess romantic comedy counts, but only because the majority of my favorite movies fall into that category. I like movies for other reasons though, and no one genre fits them all. My top 4 movies are Labyrinth, Dead Poets Society, Mickey Blue Eyes and Howl's Moving Castle- all of them very different, but excellent movies. My favorite genre is 'good movies', whether the Academy agrees with me or not!

I love movies like The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Pirates of the Caribean. Even Narnia. I guess you could call it action adventure,fantasy. Movies that take you somewhere else, another time maybe. And who does not like to see men be brave and heroic. Fighting for their women and honor. Bravery is such a turn on !!!!!

This is a tough one. It's a tie between comedy and horror. Comedy just really gets me to laugh and its great to laugh every once in a while. Horror makes me scream but thats also good every once in a while. You can never go wrong watching a comedy or horror movie with a bunch of friends.

Horror only because I grew up on those types of movies. My favorite are Zombie movies. I love the whole makeup and gory effects. It's not all about being scared to me it's about seeing the gore and blood and gruesome stuff. I just love it.

Comedy because it takes the edge of a real life.
Kung Fu because I couldn't do any of that stuff if I trained for 5 years with Bruce Lee himself.

I love "good" movies. But what gets me is a great suspense-mystery movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat and then you guessed wrong in the end. There are so few of these anymore.
