In addition to square footage, you'll need to know how many cubic yards of concrete to mix or have delivered. If having it delivered, your local concrete company will tell you depending on how thick the pad will be. Try this nifty site for a calculator that will figure it out in a flash for you: http://users.snowcrest.net/vic/calculator.htm

If you'll need a stone or gravel base under your concrete pad I can help you figure out how many tons of stone/gravel you'll need to buy...

Once you determine the square footage (L'xW'), you'll need to multiply that number by the depth of the stone base. To find out what number to use, divide the depth in inches by 12 (for 4" - 4 divided by 12 = .33, for 5" - 5 divided by 12 = .42). The answer you now have is cubic feet. OK, still with me so far...?

Now, you'll need to convert the cubic feet into cubic yards, honest, this is super easy to do! Take your cubic feet and divide that number by 27 - viola! You just figured out the cubic yards.

One more step and you'll know how much stone/gravel to get. Now, take your cubic yard total and multiply it by 1.35. You now know how many tons you'll need. By the way, you can also use 1.35 for sand, too.

concrete is usually sold in yards (which are cubic yards)

there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard

once you have calculated cubic feet, (width x length x height) in feet

you can get cubic yards by dividing that result by 27

735 square feet.

To make a 6" think pad, you'll need enough concrete to make 362.5 cubic feet of concrete.
