Hold down the center button and the menu button at the same time for a few seconds. That's the equivalent of rebooting it.

A) you may need to charge it

B) some iPods have a bug that will fry them if you plug them in to the USB port on the front of your computer. You may be looking at needing a replacement.

C) check the hold button and see if its orange, if it is the keys will not work.

did you check the top for the hold switch? if it's on (and you see orange) that means it won't do anything if you turn it on.

Did you plug it in to the USB or a wall charger?

Did you press the SELECT button to turn it on? If it sits for more than 14 hours, it will go into deep sleep mode.

try...

- unlocking it... mine has switch at top to lock it, so it doesn't play accidentally when you put it in your bags

- charging it...

- getting it fixed at the apple store (i hear lots are buggy these days)
