How much was the bike and pants worth? How much is it going to take to fix the bike? Why didn't he want his insurance messed up?

That's nice that your husband didn't want to mess up the guy's insurance, but...the honorable thing for the guy to do was take responsibility for his actions. If he's going to drive, then he has to be responsible. Offering to pay $100 isn't being responsible. Responsible means hand over his information and report it. Insurance companys usually don't care if you have had one or two accidents/tickets. The rates won't go up too much (or at all) with one or two accidents/tickets. If he's trying to avoid reporting it, he obviously knows he's guilty and has had multiple accidents/tickets. If that's the case, then maybe he should be more careful or not drive at all.

People make mistakes and we should all be given a second chance, but I also think people should take responsibility for their actions.

An unregistered bike will only get you a ticket for driving an unregistered vehicle (all registration is a "driving tax", it doesn't do anything other than assist in recognizing the lawful owner of a vehicle, but a bill of sale from when he bought the bike works just as well for that). If the priest ran the red light then he is in the wrong, but at this point, it might be hard to find the priest or establish that your boyfriends account of what happened is infact truth. When it comes down to it, if the priest contests his account, it becomes a he said, she said situation, and between a priest and a young guy on a motorcycle, it's going to be a tough sell for a judge.

Get a lawyer... If he got hit by a guy, of course you should sue. 100 dollars is not enough for a good bike. Sue, get money, buy a bike and cooler pants, pay some bills, and get a ring.

Who cares about the guys insurance. Your husband got hit and the guy should pay for medical bills, the bike and the pants he had on. You know this sounds like a case for Judge Mathis or Judge Judy!!!!!!!!

If you husband was hurt he should have the guy sign something that he'll pay for medical bills as well as damaged goods. Hopefully he'll be more careful, but if he acts like an asshole he should be sued. You have to hurry, if you wait too long to file a report it looks bad for any potential case. I hope it works out. Good luck.
I don't think it's right to look at a court case like a lottery.

I would be sure he wasnt hurt. He may end up waking up sore and feeling it later. Give it a day or two.
Cases get messy though. I was in a car accident where CLEARLY the lady behind me didnt stop and rammed us. I hurt my shoulder and went through 22 weeks of physical therapy...... it still took 3 years to settle and at that we barely got anything for 3 years of hassle. The only one who profited was my lawyer.

Did your husband even get hurt? Sounds like your worried about the bike and his pants. Maybe you should just sit down and shut up.

if your husband was actually injured then definite claim if not consider how much he'd likely get from the guys insurer if its not much more or possibly less whats the point in just adding a stastistic to the insurers list (which puts insurance premiums up) and hurting the guys insurance costs.

I would report it in case theres some kind of physical problem that pops up from this. That way you wont be stuck with any physical therapy or dr. bills later. You just never know. Thats nice of your husband, but hey thats what insurance is for.

People pay for insurance because accidents happen that is what it is their for. I would call a lawyer and see what they say. Every state is different.
