I was told, during training on the Internet, (about 1995 or so), about Yahoo's origin.
When you do a search, and you find what you are looking for, you say 'Yahoo!" I found it!
I don't know how true it is, but it makes a good story.

It was originally called 'Internet Searching Thing' and once they realised they were making a mint off of advertising, they screemed Yahoo! because they couldn't think of anything cheesier to shout, but it was more exciting than the original name so they changed it........I have no idea
