I have twins. I had my twins while I was in graduate school getting a PhD in a science related field. (the graduate school is a top 5 school in the USA). I am now attending law school (a top ten school). It is very hard and I feel a lot of guilt for not being with my children as much as other women might be with their children. (Oh, I should also mention I am a single mother). My parents help me A LOT with watching them. It is a hectic life, but I think it is worthwhile. I know that when I am done with all this, I am going to have a kick-*** job and be a millionaire, so I can give them anything they want or need. I think they benefit from my education in other ways. They are the only 4 year olds I know that can tell you where their spleen is and how falling down can cause brain contusions.

In summary, it is hard, but life is hard anyway and you might as well have a well paying job.

I am currently in school going for my bachelors, and just recently graduated with my AA in Paralegal studies. My goal is to go onto law school in the fall of 2009. I will be around 40 by the time I get my Law degree but it will be worth it. My first degree (AA) wasn't easy because I have 4 children, but I have a very supportive husband and parents. They range in age from 10 to 4, but when its time for law school they will be older and able to under stand my reasoning for going as far as I have with my education. So pursue your dreams whether you have kids or not because you will regret it if you didn't at least try!

I would assume it would be more hell than having your spouse be in university while you have a new baby, which from my parenting class teacher's perspective, it sucked.

She would want her break from the baby when he got home from classes and he wanted his break when he just got home. Also. he spent a lot of time studying with the baby crying and screaming, which wasn't fun.

Studying something HARD like law... is probably worse than that even if your children aren't babies.
