Any elected official is elected to power in order to SERVE the people, much the same way the cops "Serve and Protect". If such is the case, why do we confer such importance (saying Mr. President like Your Highness) to a public figure who is elected by US to SERVE US. This is a Jefferson-like question: Jefferson never delivered a State of The Union Speech, believing that it smacked too much of Royalty; Are we treating our elected officials like Royalty?????
P.S. Don't bother reponding that MR. PRESIDENT is a SIGN OF RESPECT.

We elect someone to REPRESENT US and to make decisions IN THE INTEREST OF THE PEOPLE. Therefore, without being explicitly our servant, that is essentially his role.

"Farly The Seer":
I think all the examples you gave are signs of respect towards people that are not elected by us to serve our interests...THE QUESTION IS SPECIFICALLY DIRECTED TOWARDS ANY MAN/WOMAN ELECTED AS PRESIDENT. I just think Presidents and elected officials have forgotten why they are elected. Seeing people prostrating in front of them or flattering their ego with useless "Misters" just encourages them to screw us even more. As Jefferson would say, It smacks of Royalty...Why is it that elected officials in some countries are not referred to in such ways: The French President is often referred to by his last name; the Chancellor of Germany is referred to as Chancellor...

It has not something to do with race it fairly is barely a loss of appreciate for the presidency sown my the media. 2. It started whilst Bush grew to become into president, whilst the media started calling him mr. bush, to 3 how tutor their protest of the 2000 presidential election. IE: they have been asserting, screw you, your not my president, so im not calling you mr president. 3. After 8 years of completely disrespecting the workplace of the president Now the media are having a stressful time going lower back to showing appreciate lower back 4. they think of they are being lovable, a similar once you pay attention them use words like Bush regime, or Obama regime it particularly is the media attempting to belittle the workplace of the president and the legitimacy of the government. 5. comparable element handed off with the term " tea bagging " tea baggers " The media grew to become into intentionally utilising a sexual term, to deride the tea pary contributors They tried to act like they weren't, yet then its stressful to describe all the giggling jointly as they used the term or why some contributors of the media might truthfully use the term 10 or greater situations in one sentence.

You say don't say it's because of respect so you don't seem open to the real reason.
I agree with a previous poster, Mr. President shows it's just a regular guy, not a royal figure.
If it were a woman, it would be madam President

You sound like you have just a little too much hatred stored up inside.
You ask a question and then tell us not to provide the answer. Why do we call older people "sir"? Why do we call CEOs or other bosses "sir"? Why, in business, do you address letters to "Mr." when you're not overly friendly or familiar with someone?
You're making a case for something that doesn't exist.

Well the Mister part, that is because he is a man, if our President were a female it would be Miss, or Mrs, or Ms (why do we have so many?) President.
The President part is because that is what he is.
In fact the evolution of using the term Mr. President was because they wanted to ensure that it was simply and did NOT imply any royal image.

Actually... you don't elect the President to serve you... you elect him to govern you... hence the reason he is the highest official in the Government.
You choose your leader... you don't elect hired help.
