Dont know where to start with this one but what I would say to you is to monitor how large a part alcohol plays in your life.Is it becoming unhealthily important? Is it destructive in your life?Do you need a drink in the morning to relieve symptom of withdrawal? Are you putting yourself or others at risk through drink? Is it affecting your health? From the details in your question I would advise you to still go out socialising but dont drink to the extent that you get drunk. If you cant do this then maybe you do have a problem.Anyway the fact that you ask this question means that you have concerns about alcohol. Are you worried about being labelled an alcoholic?Bottom line is...if drink is causing you any problems then modify your intake until it doesn't.If you feel you cant control it then seek professional help.I had to for a million and one problems through drink and eventually found that the only way to function properly as a sane person was to completely abstain.I would love to go out and just have a couple but I now know I never can.Well..I wish you luck and enjoy drinking if you can but be aware and dont underestimate the destructive aspect of alcohol

Alcoholism is a strange condition. It is the only disease which convinces you that you are healthy. The fact that you are asking questions should be a warning. it's up to you to take back control and stop for a while-particularly if you notice yourself wondering about the amount of alcohol which might be available at an event or how you will manage to work in a few drinks "to relax" in a day.
This condition is a complete mother****** which will turn your life inside out if you let it win. It also screws up a lot of other people in your life who will eventually become tired of making excuses for you! STOP AND TAKE CONTROL!!!

I'm into whisky. I have a few shots, sometimes everyday. I don't drink till I get pissed though.

A friend of mine told me that as long as I don't wake up in the morning thinking of alcohol and what do drink,or how long is it to my next drink, then I am not an alcoholic. I think it's an extreme rule of thumb.

Hope you never get there.

Well if your coffee / corn flakes no longer taste right without a glass of wine .... then yes you have a problem.

if you go through more than 4 bottles a week (yourself) you have a problem.

if you're doing this every week, you have a problem.

if you car makes a clinking noise when you corner, you have a problem.

if you share your time between the bank and the bottle bank, you have a problem.

if as it gets closer to the end of the month (pay day) and your bottle has to be hidden in a brown paper bag while you drink .... you really have a problem.

If you are asking if you have a problem, then you probably think maybe you do. Go Google AA, there is no doubt a series of questions that anyone can answer for themself to find out. It does not matter what flavor of alcohol or how often you drink. It is blackouts, it is what it is doing to your life, and can you stop if you want to that matters.

You are an alcoholic if your buying and consuming of alcohol affects you either socially..(you start to do things you wouldn't normally do and people shun you for it..).. physically..(your always sick and unable to do the things you'd normally do like get up for work or be able to do every day things due to ill health) or psychologically..( you become forgetful, changes in mood, tearful, argumentative).. or financially..(unable to pay bills, feed yourself or youd rather buy drink than pay for necessities)
I'd agree that you'r a binge drinker...although you still have to watch yourself as in its self binge drinking is more damaging physically as you don't give your body time to recover from the effects of the alcohol.

well you must have a problem if your even asking this question, and most alcoholics dont admit it , like yourself they pass it off as being social , but if like you say your pissed often then yep i think you have a problem , try mabye socialising without the drink to test yourself , and if you cant then you should see your doctor to refer you to someone who can help,

If it interferes with your responsibilities i.e. your job, keeping the house up, etc, or if it affects people close to you greatly you might be. However, if you just enjoy going out and having maybe a few too many, as long as you're not driving you're probably fine.
