Yeah, the Japanese should have checked out what it meant over here but check this out.
English - Wii means urine
Scottish - Wii means small
French - Wii means yes
Its stupid!
But I'm still going to buy one, and I'll probably get used to it. But check out these. lol
*The Wee will be all over the shop windows!
*I'm not allowed to have a Wee!
*I'm being charged for a Wee!
*Will the Wee come in different colours?!
*I really want a Wee!
*They are aiming the Wee at the next generation!
*Everyone will have a Wee!
*Stop playing with your Wee!
*Don't get angry at your Wee!
Hope you like these!
P.S. If the Scottish want a small Wii, then they'll say,
"Can I have a wee wii?"!!!!!

5 year old target market? Most of the 5 year olds I know can't even hold a GBA right.
And why would you care what the guy at the shop thinks of you? I agree Wii is a stupid *** name, but why should I care what some stranger I am NEVER going to meet thinks of me? I'm not running for president or anything. Just go the store and ask for one. If you still feel insecure, just order it online.

I LOVED their original name. They named it the, "Nintendo Revolution" and it matches in more way than one. It could be shortened for a cool nickname, mutliple nicknames. Also, because of the controls and the new type of gameplay, it really would be a revolution in gaming.
Wii is a lame name.
Penny Arcade made a funny comment on them changing the name. Check it out.

in my view The Nintendo Gamecube is the ideal as a results of fact which you may use an action Replay on great video games like great smash Bros. Melee and great Mario Sunshine. The sixty 4 is okay too however the Gameshark for that don't fairly artwork anymore.

maybe they wanted to see how many mo's are going to say they are off to play thier Wii.
Actually i recall something somewhere saying something about wanting an easy reference name that defies all language barriers, or some BS like that.
So in short no matter where you are in the world you can tell when someone is playing with thier Wii

"revolution" cannot be pronounced properly by a 5 year old - nintendo's target market for their consoles - so they changed it to something simple that does not have many syllables.. the Wii...

the reason they canged it from nintendo revolution to wii is because "nintendo revolution" is a long word for the chineese people, so they shorten it to wii.
