The main reasons we "lost" (You know we did manage to kill over 2,000,000 of our enemy while losing only 58,000 men) in Viet Nam were political, not military. I doubt we will make the same mistakes again. It isn't a fair comparison to what's going on in Iraq right now, that's a completely different kettle of fish.

We could have defeated Vietnam in a full scale military conflict. It was the insurgency we could not defeat. History has shown that no superpower can overcome unending resistance from the local population.
