pink port on the back of your computer, or look for the symbol of the microphone on the sound card on the back of the computer...some new computers allow for it to be plugged into the front too. but make sure the port is enabled first

On my iMac Slot loading BlueBerry, the right side, bottom jack
On my Compaqs all Desktop 2000's, sound card on the rear.
On my huge Linux towers, (have about 30 of them) all but three plug into the rear on the sound port on the ATX boards. Three have front jacks.
I have 80 to 90 computers, from day to day, as I try to find homes for some, with kids who might never otherwise get one, as the beer fund of their parent is what's most important... And, I have to fight to keep those donated systems (with monitors, printers, speakers, etc., and lots of software!) outta the pawn shop...!
All run either MAC OSX (Darwin BSD), or PCLinuxOS, with full speaking and hearing of the computer 'person'. They are all free of the 150,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions, just like Microsoft.com and Hotmail.com that each run 15,000 Linux computers!
