The tps is new but the code flashes that is giving me a problem. The idle is up and down and sometimes shuts off. Maybe the wiring is bad but I do not know how to check the wires.

if i were you, i would just change the tps. it will be easier then testing it, but if you want ti tested, then get a good chevy manual and read up on it. i recommend Haynes manuals, they can be found at farm and fleet. (15 bucks). otherwise, ask your local mechanic. they should be able to help you.

If the tps has 3 wires, the top wire will have 12 volts, the bottom wire will be ground, and the middle wire will be the tps voltage.
If it has 2 wires, one wire will be 12 volts, the other wire will be the tps voltage.
When installing a new tps, it has to be adjusted to read .5 (1/2 volt) at the tps wire at closed throttle.

.there are three wires in the system computer ground ,5 volt reference and a return wire to the computer which will very with throttle position usually .7v at closed throttle and 4.5v at wide open throttle.using a high impedance meter is important voltage should increase with throttle movement smooth with no glitches if this throttle body fuel injection check the idle air control valve, also they are bad for base gaskets under the throttle body
