i mean in terms of parformance, low end torqe and realiability etc.

Hondas make the best, most reliable engines on the planet, so that's what I would buy. However, sometimes Yamahas are a little faster in a given class (not always).
I've owned 4 Honda motorcyles and loved em all.

honda has a better reputation in the motorcycle world and i myself was looking at buying a honda shadow aero this summer. it has a bigger engine and the pipes sound great. go for the honda!!!
