I take a mood med that causes weight gain with every passing year. I gained 18 pounds this year and was told last year to loose weight or next I'd need knee replacement surgery. Does anyone have or know anyone who has had the lap band weight reduction surgery. I'm considering it , but it has so many possible comlications

You sound like someone with the passion and dedication needed to reach your goal Lap banding is not the quick cure. It requires a lot of work on your part. The physician will put you on a liquid diet for 1-2 weeks after the procedure and stair step your diet slowly. The amount of stomach room is adjusted periodically in the office as needed depending on your needs. You must be compliant because the gastrointestinal restrictions can cause vomiting from over-stuffing yourself. The procedure is less invasive than gastric bypass surgery. You can succeed. You will have to diet and exercise for the rest of your life ; like everyone else. All surgeries have possible complications. You need to take a close inventory of your present and future health problems that will occur with obesity and compare that with the lap band benefits and possible complications that might occur. You can change your life forever or continue the path you are on now that leads to major complications. I wish you the best and believe the time has come to commit to a decision.

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling /lapband (all types of weight loss surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her revision surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps
