I need to know any home made remedies for cleaning a couch. It is a brown leather couch. Also, any suggestions on how to protect it.

Use a little hot white vinegar, then rinse with soapy water. Treat with leather product to protect as recommended.. Here's a site to help (look under automotive):

Do Not Use saddle soap on your leather furniture!!!! key word SADDLE......

You need a milder cleaner and a conditioner that allows the leather to breath... Lexol... No Bull leather Cleaner are good.

NO armoral wipes, pledge or any other under the kitchen items on your nice leather furniture...

check for your type of leather here and links to cleaners http://mobileleatherservice.com/LeatherTypes.html

Do both at the same time by going to a local feed-and-seed store, or farm-supplies one and buying a can of saddle-soap. It cleans and protects leather at the same time with one application. Also works great with your shoes and other leather goods. (PETA will probably come kill both of us for these posts.)

There is a cleaning expert Linda Cobb "The Queen of Clean". She always has homemade cleaning solutions. I have tried many of her suggestions and I have always loved them. Here is a link to several of her suggestions for cleaning leather. I think I might try these also.

Spray a cloth lightly with WD 40 ...wipe the couch ...you will see alot of dirt on the cloth. The WD 40 is oil based so it won't damage the leather...just don't spray too much on the cloth or your furniture will be oily.
