I've recently discovered the joy of falling to sleep to relaxing instrumental music, but my selection is pretty small.

I like Guitar, Piano, brass instruments.

I'm not afraid of a beat, but too fast or too loud and it will keep me awake.

What do you think?

Great answers. George Winston is a hit.

But I guess I should clarify. Which artist or albums, or songs do you think I would enjoy falling asleep to?

There's a series of CD's in the classical genre. I think they're called "The Best Classical Album In The World" or something along those lines, they are great! Also check out Eva Cassidy. She did a lot of cover songs, but her voice is sort of bluesy and soothing.

Aphex Twin- Selected Ambient Works Vol 2, and the song "Flim", a band called Explosions in the Sky is very very relaxing to fall asleep to, and also although it's not instrumental, alot of Radiohead, Sigur Ros, and Bjork are very relaxing.

I've heard of people using a metranome. Its a tool musicians use to keep the beat of music. You can set it at whatever tempo you want.

I like going to stores that you can sample those kinds of music. Try Target and Borders.

There are music CD's for babies, (baby Mozart, baby Handel, etc.) which are incredibly mellow.
No problem falling asleep to those.
