My BF saw this on our local news, & that local politicians in NC want to enforce it! Other politicians in other States are pushing for the same messed up laws (either making them law or keeping existing old ones, & trying to enforce those laws too).

That's the anti-cohabitation law. 7 states still have it on their books as an illegal act. Florida, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Virginia and West Virginia.

The statute, passed by the Legislature in 1805, uses language unchanged since Thomas Jefferson's presidency: "If any man and woman, not being married to each other, shall lewdly and lasciviously associate, bed and cohabitate together, they shall be guilty of a class 2 misdemeanor," punishable by up to 60 days in jail.

Crazy isn't it?

Don't worry as soon as they actually enforce it -- it will immediately be struck down as unconstitutional.
Otherwise it will stay on the books because there is no legal challenge.
