I read it about ten years ago. It was three overlapping stories in one novel set in different time zones at the same site. It first was a monastry then a convent and then a ruin (I think) during the book , one pregnant woman sought refuge there, one nun was bricked up in her own crypt to pray for the rest of her days in solitude. I remember it was very confusing and when I finished it I wanted to re-read it because I didn't understand it (but it was a library book and I didn't take a note of the title). any guesses?

If you look at the Abebooks website they have a part called booksleuth and there are loads of people looking for books with nothing more than a description just like the one you gave here.

Good luck in finding it.

it is "The Giver" by using Lois Lowry. Yeah, Jonas changed into chosen to be the subsequent "Giver" And the old Giver transfers memories into Jonas. I keep in recommendations one memory, He had a memory of a sparkling blue sky. certain, even as Jonas and the child are operating away, he hears this helicopter, and he recollects that the helicopter can experience warmth. So Jonas lays down with the child and transfers a cold snowy day memory. The helicopter does no longer discover them. interior the top, Jonas unearths the "colour international" and slides down the hill to it. He hears, track, sees beautiful colored lights, and hears laughter yet he guesses it changed into the wind. i do not keep in recommendations each component, gosh it changed into so some time previous That I study it, It changed into in sixth grade.

The net works on word recognition so if you can remember one sentence of the book or an unusual name that was in it , type it into your homepage search and if its on the web you'll find it .

Sounds very interesting. You can request things like this from an intra-library search, I think.
