It gets jerks in trouble who deserve it and shouldn't be screwing around in the first place. It's poetic justice.

I don't know what the big deal is about "snitchers", but I only "snitch" when it's just horribly wrong like a severe racial comment, or the last one I just did. A (supposed) 15-year-old was asking what kinda job she can get at that age. Some douchbag wrote down "child porn brothel." It's sick sh.it like that that pisses me off.
Oh, wait, I'm just reading all the answers and it pertains to real life and not on Answers. lol We had a problem like that in Toronto last year where gangs were just shooting people left, right and centre. Here're just some examples. One guy died because some punk fired a shot into his house and it hit him while he was tucking his kid in for the night; another was a drive-by which hit an innocent pedestrian. Now, I know how people want the police to solve crimes, but these cases will remain unsolved (the father's case is still is and that was two years ago, the drive-by shooters were just apprehended a month ago) without the help of people witnessing these crimes. People have to understand that in order to have a safe community, THEY are the ones that have to stand up and speak their voices. Last year, there were over 70 murders in Toronto; an all-time high. This year, it's much lower than this time last year so far. Toronto PD made a statement for this radical change, saying that it's with the help of citizens speaking up about gun violence and gang activities that we should all rest safely at night. This is just food for thought.

Its only good when the situation is serious, like some teenager is pregnant and doesn't wanna tell her mom or if a best friend knows his buddy is being cheated on. Its only good in situations like that. I never snitch cause, i dont wanna be snitched on, lol

To me snitching is good if you are about to get in trouble for something you did not do.Besides, the trouble began way before the snitching came into play.A person would have to have done something underhanded and told who ever seem it not to tell. Then expect them not to say a word to anyone. As i said,to keep themselves out of trouble, they need to tell on the person that did it,

Sometimes it can save someone's life. If you snitch about anorexia or bullemia for example that is a matter of life and death. Also bullies deserve to get into trouble.

snitching is only good if it is going to prevent something bad from happening...like getting punched in the face

Nothing unless you are perfect and you do nothing wrong yourself.
Because when you become a tattletale you just open yourself to be told on yourself.
Pointing fingers at someone else for something they are doing wrong can get you into a world of trouble. Make sure all your duckies are in a row before you become so self righteous

Don't you win the Quidditch game when you catch the snitch?

By telling someone that there's something going on that's "bad," it can now be dealt with and the situation can improve.
Sometimes, teachers don't know or see everything, so we have to rely on others to tell us about a particular situation. Then we need to deal with it appropriately.

Habitual snitchers would probably admit that it is simply a lot of fun. When someone else gets into trouble--and it's not you--that is a rewarding, if largely antisocial, endeavor.
