You disable it. It's a part of Norton's Internet Security, not another program. Go into the 'Internet Security' tab and look under 'status and settings'. At the bottom you will find a 'parental control' button. Click on that to edit its settings or shut it off.
Again, this is not another program. Do not go into control panel and do not go to add or remove programs. You won't find it.

Not NORTON!! When is the public going to figure out that Norton is virusware? It will NOT be removed from the host computers who were so unfortunant to have it installed on the system. You are going to have to go to the Norton website and do a search for the special removal tool and download, then use it to really clean your system up. Now, be sure to get the one that works as they have one which doesn't do ANYTHING. It SAYS it is the removal tool, but really it removes nothing as it expects you to re-install the program on your system. So.......Look for the removal tool which does NOT have the instructions for re-installation at the botton of the page of instructions. You may need to call the company to find the right tool.
Bless you and good luck getting that cra.... out of your system. It is horrible stuff, Norton and Symantic. They killed my computer with a huge virus they downloaded when I refused to purchase their "helpdesk". I had one already from Dell and one day after their "live update" failed on me, they tried selling me their version of helpdesk. I refused and the next day I had this huge virus which wiped out my re-imaging system, totally, completely, utterly destroyed and unusable from then on out. The computer cost me $3,000.00 and was only five weeks old. Norton came pre-installed on my system. After Dell helped me completely reformat my hard drive and then re-install Windows XP and all my programs, minus Norton, I went down to Staples looking for a new security suit. I suspected Norton had done this, but did not have any real "proof". Well, at the store I asked the salesman for some assistance getting a different security suit. I did not tell him what I had before. I proceeded to tell me step by step what happened to MY computer! I was shocked. I have since heard this from many individuals who have had the same thing happen to them. I learned that these security suites put in regestry keys and files which have a virus like replicating system and when you uninstall the program it re-installs itself just like a VIRUS. Norton says it leaves behind "some files and keys" in the event a removal of the program during a "fix" is needed to "assist" with the re-install later. Right. Why would a removal be needed to "fix" something which was never really removed?
Good luck in getting Norton and Symantic to provide you the proper clean up tool. Keep pestering them until you get it all out of your system or you will continue to have problems with any other security suite you install. It will interfer with the program causing the new one to not work properly leaving you open to threats, viruses and other nasties. When you think you are safe you are not. Sorry to tell you this, but it is true.
What the fella said about it not being in the add/remove is correct. You need to contact Norton and get the proper removal/cleanup tool. Nothing else will fix this for you but the proper clean up tool. Do not touch the regestry unless you know exactly what you are doing. Otherwise you can kill your computer. Contact Norton and tell them you need the clean up tool. The right one which does not expect you to be re-installing after a "removal fix".
