There was one country called India which is a sub-continent.At one time it was entirely Hindu and had another name called Hindustan (the country of the Hindus). It was also known as Bharat. Moslem invaders came in from the north through the Khyber Pass and many Hindus were converted mostly by the sword. As the area was prone to many invasions there were more and more Moslems so in 1945 the Moslem population through Jinnah wanted a separate state . The area was ruled by the British who encouraged the partition of India ..Jinnah was made the President of the then Pakistan. Pakistan (which means the country of the Good people) was divided into West and East Pakistan because the land between these two sectors was India. The people of East Pakistan were Bengalis and those of West Pakistan were Sindhis,Punjabis, Baluchistanis with Pathans and Afghanistanis. The people of East Pakistan were not happy at being ruled by West Pakistan and had their own President ...Rehman(?) there was a revolt and East Pakistan broke away from West Pakistan and called itself BANGLA DESH.....THE COUNTRY OF THE BENGALIS. ...THE capital of this country is Dakka. Bangla Desh has a lot of low lying land and is prone to flooding during the monsoon period. the people of Bangla Desh are mainly fish eaters. The Hindus there are worshippers of Kali and Durga but the majority of people living there are of course Moslem. Myu information may be slightly out as its late at night and Im tired. Hope this helps you.

it was given to pakistan after the split of pakistan and india in 1947. it was meant to be a part of pakistan, but after a while, bangladesh decided it wanted its independence. you can't exactly ensure enforcement and cohesiveness if the country is divided by a huge country like india.
anyway, so they claimed their independence from pakistan and became what is known today as Bangladesh.
