I have two kids. A four year old daughter and a two year old son. They do need a sitter, daily from about 7 til 4. Well, my son does anyway, my daughter needs someone from 12 to 4 and she needs to be picked up from preschool.

I have a sitter, she's awesome. We all call her Momma!

Oklahoma's DHS has a guideline for that. Check you state's website. Also, some states have a little babysitter course and give guidelines for how long children can be left with various ages of babysitters.

What I recall is that kids can't be left alone at home for more than 2 hours until after they are 14.

I don't have kids, but I am only 16. So this is coming from a teen. Until they have reached their 15 birthday, I would say have a baby sitter, I almost because a mom at 14 because I was being stupid. So I wish I would have had a baby sitter. And after that until they move out if you leave them alone, check up on them, even if you have to have a neighbor do so.

Crazy is correct it is illegal to leave a child under 12 unattended, that doesn't mean that a child of 13 or 14 doesn't need a babysitter though.

28 months and 12 months. The 12 month needs a baby sitter, and the 28 months needs a straight jacket and a padded room on most days. :D

Daughter 6, son 2. Not unless I can't take them where I go. Which is rarely ever that they can't come with me. I am a stay-home mom and wife. I never get to go anywhere. If I do, the kids are with.

I just started letting my eldest daughter stay home alone..she is 12 and we started when she went into 6th grade...(11 at the time) we started with just trips to the drug store etc and now we can go out to dinner and leave her by herself...we keep it pretty local though. I would say that it depends upon the kid..my daugher is pretty responsible and doesnt get herself into trouble...

up to age 12 is when they need a baby sitter. if your baby is a newborn then it is best to get a person you know.
